Design Solution
The design solution is a mentoring platform website and mobile app that solves the problem of women lacking personalized financial guidance by offering one-on-one mentoring, tailored advice, and a supportive community, empowering them to navigate their financial journeys effectively.
Product Ideation
Drawing from personal struggles and mentoring experiences, I created a mentoring program concept, reflected in the landing page featuring key sections such as benefits, process, testimonials, mentors, and About Us, with a clear call to action to Find a Mentor.
Competitor Analysis
There were two main competitors in the space of mentoring for women entrepreneurs and for financial help in general:
Penny finance – Lacks human touch – it forces the user to mainly read articles online
Score – User can find a mentor and there is a mentor matching. It is for women with small businesses and small business in general but most mentors that popped up were men (would love to have all mentors be women empowering women)
Branding
Logo
My logo design process began with exploring type-only concepts and evolved into options incorporating illustrations symbolizing sisterhood, represented by circles. Later, I experimented with incorporating a literal sense of money before ultimately settling on a design featuring a flower with a dollar sign within it, symbolizing financial growth.
Logo Ideation:
Colors
When selecting colors for my project, I aimed for a feminine aesthetic while integrating color psychology to evoke trust. Initially exploring a wide array of colors that lacked cohesion, I eventually settled on a refined palette. Maroon serves as the primary color, exuding strength and sophistication, while a soft pink complements it as a secondary hue, fostering warmth and approachability. Lavender, green, and orange accents infuse vibrancy and harmony, creating a balanced and inviting visual scheme.
Typography
In choosing the typography for my “To Her Credit” project, I initially leaned towards a feminine aesthetic, opting for the elegant script font Apple Chancery. However, considering readability concerns for web and mobile platforms, I transitioned to QuickSand, a friendly typeface with rounded edges, maintaining approachability. Ultimately, prioritizing readability and sophistication led me to select Amaranth and Literata as the primary fonts. While Amaranth retains a feminine touch, it offers improved legibility, ensuring clarity and professionalism across all mediums.
