Digital Illustration – Bumblebee

I have started my journey through trying new and revisiting old hobbies. The hobby I did Monday night was Digital Arts where I chose to do a digital illustration in Adobe Illustrator.

The final product is featured above and the drawing I had done a few weeks ago that inspired this illustration is below.

This illustration took me about three hours… granted I had been checking my phone messaging with friends throughout and listening to music but in total it probably took me about two to finish.

I am still somewhat new to illustrating in Adobe Illustrator. I did a 30 day illustration challenge where I followed tutorials a little while back. (I may make another blog post about the challenge).

I absolutely love illustrating. It really is a great way to be creative, experiment in Illustrator, and best of all create cute illustrations! It can, on the flip side, be a bit frustrating at times when things don’t look right or when I struggle to figure out what shapes to use to. This happened while trying to create a beehive (not shown here..).

I tried and tried to figure out the best way to do so and ended up giving up to continue with the other elements of this illustration. Though I know it is something to revisit later and try again, I ended up taking a little different approach to this illustration.

You will see that instead of a beehive I used my honeycomb. I figured it would serve as a more technical concept and almost a “what’s inside the beehive”.

I also have shared this image to my Instagram, which is linked below, where I also have all of those illustrations made during the 30 day challenge.

Hope you enjoyed reading and continue to follow me through my journey!
